Alexander Kuo, MD

Dr. Alexander Kuo is a transplant hepatologist and serves as the medical director of the Cedars-Sinai liver transplant program. Dr. Kuo is board certified in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology. He received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco, completed internal medicine residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital, then returned to UCSF to complete his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. His clinical and academic interests include pre- and post-liver transplant management, treatment of viral hepatitis, liver transplantation for alcohol-related liver disease, diagnosis and treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma, and liver donor allocation. In addition to numerous publications on these topics, Dr. Kuo has also been recognized for outstanding clinical teaching and was elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (FAASLD). He has served on various leadership committees for AASLD, the American Society of Transplantation, and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
