Overview
Cardiac Catheterization Conference is a weekly series that utilizes case presentations, literature reviews, and interactive discussions to improve the quality of care for the broad spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures performed in the catheterization laboratory (CVIC). The conference is open only to Cedars-Sinai health care professionals.

Objective(s): 1 Identify acute ischemic syndromes, and triage patients to urgent/emergent treatment in accordance with practice guidelines developed in the multidisciplinary STEMI and NSTMI Committees. 2 Address the need for culprit v multivessel intervention in acute ischemic syndromes. 3 Understand the appropriate use of left left ventricular assist devices (IABP, Impella, ECMO, LVAD). 4 Address the clinical and physiologic significance of valvular heart disease, and evaluate the optimal therapeutic intervention(s). 5 Understand the pharmacology and clinical indications for antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy for cardiovascular diseases. 6 Describe the appropriate the use of IVUS, OCT, FFR, and iFR in the anatomic and physiologic assessment of coronary artery disease. 7 Understand the proper use of ancillary diagnostic techniques in the assessment of CAD, including stress testing,(ECG, nuclear, echo) and CT Coronary Angiography. 8 Recognize the various types of cardiomyopathies, and understand the physiologic assessment and treatment. 9 Recognize, diagnose, and assess the physiologic severity of pericardial disease. 10 Describe the potential complications of diagnostic, interventional, and structural heart interventions, as well as techniques to decrease their occurrence. For example, recognizing the role of patient risk assessment, hydration, and minimizing contrast volume in the prevention of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN).
