Overview
The 18th Annual Symposium on Current Concepts in Spinal Disorders focuses on treatment methodology, controversies in spine care management, and new and emerging technologies. The faculty is composed of internationally recognized experts who will present lectures focused on innovations in spine surgeries and spine sciences, including minimally invasive surgeries, motion preservation, complications, controversies and deformities. The program will also feature a deep dive into the socioeconomics of spine care, including value-based medicine, risk stratification and outcomes, and patient-reported outcome measures in clinical practice. Participants will have several opportunities to enjoy personal interactions with many of our country’s leading spine professionals

Objectives
  1. Describe anterior scoliosis correction in adolescent and young adults and determine when this musclesparing surgery can be used to straighten curves while maximizing flexibility
  2. Discuss various spine care value measures and the motivation, methods, benefits, and challenges of measurement
  3. Discuss new innovations and operative techniques and apply them to future clinical decisionmaking based on indication and surgical experience
  4. Discuss the science, risks and benefits of motion-preservation technologies and strategies to optimize patient outcomes
  5. Examine common spine cases, including OPLL and DDD, and if surgical intervention is appropriate, identify risk factors and select the approach with the lowest risk of complications and best possible outcome
  6. Identify and discuss the controversies that exist in minimally invasive surgical approaches
