Overview
The Cedars-Sinai Transcranial Doppler (TCD) Ultrasound for Comprehensive Stroke Care course includes lectures and hands-on sessions from experts in the field and provides broad exposure to the theory, application, practice and interpretation of TCD studies. Topics covered include ultrasound physics, waveform analysis, vasospasm detection, intraoperative monitoring, screening in sickle cell anemia, PFO detection, vasomotor reactivity and evaluation for cerebral circulatory arrest.

Objectives
  1. Discuss TCD bubble studies and the implications for PFO (persistent foramen ovale) screening due to its simplicity, non-invasive character, low cost and high feasibility
  2. Accurately interpret the findings consistent with increased stroke risk
  3. Follow the Stroke Prevention in Sickle Cell Disease (STOP) protocol to screen children with sickle cell disease

Note:  Registrations are not currently being accepted due to the postponement.

*MDs or DOs in Residency or Fellowship training programs, sonographers in ultrasound training programs, medical students in medical school will require a letter from the Training Program Director to qualify
