Overview
This is the next level in the Cedars-Sinai’s Unconscious Bias Education Series. As we work to create an environment of inclusion and belonging and advance health equity, this education provides an opportunity to: highlight the rich history and mission of caring for the underserved; understand how our brains process information and make associations and assumptions that can have a negative impact on patients, colleagues, and our culture of inclusion and belonging; and, provide our workforce with tools to mitigate and interrupt unconscious biases.

Objectives
  1. Understand concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion; socioeconomic status, generational differences, power dynamics, and the unique experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community in the healthcare environment.
  2. Demonstrate familiarity with the experiences of various social groups in relation to bias.
  3. Recognize instances of inequity in their own workplace and community environments and take steps to mitigate biases and factors that contribute to inequities.
  4. Reflect on personal experiences with bias and utilize this self-awareness to actively advance your individual Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) journey.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Cedars-Sinai is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Credit Designation Statement
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center designates this Enduring Material for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Non-Physician Attendance
