Overview
The 2023 California Cardiovascular Team Annual Symposium will provide basic and advanced knowledge of various guideline-based medical therapies in the management and care coordination of patients with cardiovascular illness and disorders. The latest guidelines and therapies will emphasize competency-based practice towards excellence in clinical skills, value-based, patient-centered, and deliver culturally competent care. Each section will enable opportunities to acquire skills required to use and monitor advanced noninvasive cardiovascular devices and promote the translation of AHP-led care delivery models and best practices in cardiovascular team practice settings. The symposium will integrate principles of population health management in primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular illnesses and related comorbidities.

Objectives
  1. Implement guideline based care for the evaluation and diagnosis of chest pain
  2. Describe the latest diagnosis and management of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
  3. Review the latest updates on aortic aneurysms, peripheral artery disease, and vascular considerations for transcatheter valve replacements
  4. Review the latest research on transcatheter valve replacement and repairs
  5. Implement novel approaches in the management of INOCA
  6. Review medical grade diagnostics on consumer wearables, innovations in cardiac implantable electronic devices, and upcoming developments in AF ablations
  7. Review primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases such as blood pressure, lipids, diabetes
  8. Discuss the the latest weight loss drugs
  9. Evaluate the role of handheld ultrasound devices for ease of use, image quality, and overall satisfaction in heart failure patients
  10. Incorporate the APP-led Models of Care and discuss perspectives from the AHP-led Afib Clinic
  11. Discuss congenital heart disease in adulthood

Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Cedars-Sinai and the California Chapter of the American College of Cardiology. Cedars-Sinai is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
