Overview
Advancing Care in Parkinsons Disease and Beyond Parkinsons disease (PD) is not only the most common movement disorder but also the fastest-growing neurological condition worldwide. According to the Parkinsons Foundation, nearly one million people in the United States are currently living with PD, with approximately 60,000 new cases diagnosed each year. However, PD is just one of several movement disorders that pose significant clinical challenges. Other conditions, such as essential tremor, dystonia, Huntingtons disease, and atypical parkinsonian syndromes, also require specialized and evolving approaches to care. Given the complexity and heterogeneity of these disorders particularly Parkinsons disease clinicians must tailor management strategies to each individual patient. To meet this demand, expert faculty will explore the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of movement disorders, with a special focus on PD. Topics will include both established and emerging medical and surgical interventions designed to slow disease progression, manage symptoms, and enhance quality of life. The program will also address the broad spectrum of motor and non-motor symptoms that impact patients, as well as the role of nutritional, lifestyle, and psychosocial factors in comprehensive care. Through in-depth discussion, healthcare professionals will gain valuable insights and practical strategies for improving outcomes across the spectrum of movement disorders. This educational activity is designed for a multidisciplinary audience, including neurologists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, physiatrists (PM&R), general practitioners, and internists. It will also be highly relevant to nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, allied health professionals, as well as neurology residents and fellows. Other healthcare providers involved in the care of patients with Parkinsons disease and related movement disorders will also benefit from attending.

Objectives
  1. Recognize the clinical presentation, management and progression of Parkinsons disease and other movement disorders
  2. Assess available therapies for the management of motor and nonmotor symptoms of Parkinsons disease dystonia and essential tremor
  3. Evaluate ongoing and emerging research in Parkinsons disease and the implications for emerging therapeutic options
  4. Guide patients and caregivers in making key treatment decisions in Parkinsons disease or other movement disorders.
