Overview

The 17th Annual Emergency Medicine Symposium: A Practical Update is a cutting-edge course that will provide participants with the latest clinical information to support the delivery of fast and accurate diagnoses and treatment decisions. Expert faculty will share their broad knowledge and clinical expertise, energy, and commitment to emergency medicine. This one-day symposium will cover current and emerging trends in the emergency department (ED) and will include content on modern resuscitation techniques and management of febrile neonates and trends in the pediatric care literature. The symposium will feature a mechanical CPR live demonstration and will explore the top 5 apps and technology you may find essential for working your next shift. Join your colleagues on December 6th and share, explore, and discuss ways to improve the effective and efficient delivery of healthcare in the ED, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes and increasing patient satisfaction.

Objectives
  1. Discuss the best clinical practices and guidelines for diagnosis and management of patients presenting with concussion
  2. Evaluate current trends in pediatric care based on recent literature, including when lumbar puncture is indicated, and explore the latest research in blood markers for febrile neonates
  3. Consider the latest updated information on the use of Ketamine for sedation, agitation and pain control.
  4. Determine if the top 5 apps and technology will be useful to you in the ED
  5. Discuss potential adverse events associated with quinolone usage and alternative solutions for managing infections
  6. Understand the newest advances in cardiac resuscitation, including early use of ECMO and automated compressions with mechanical devices, with live demonstration.
