Overview
Approximately 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is also the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. Given that most primary care providers who care for women will be involved in the difficult decisions and experiences of a patient dealing with breast cancer, it is important that that these providers are aware of current treatment and management options so they can provide the support, education, and advocacy for patients who are dealing with breast cancer.
