2019 Pediatric State of the Art Conference: What's New in Pediatric Specialty Care for the Pediatrician

This symposium will provide general pediatricians, family practitioners and internal medicine clinicians with comprehensive information on recent advances in pediatric care, including state-of-the art diagnoses, potential solutions for problems encountered in daily practice, and clinical recommendations that will enhance skills in providing optimal care for pediatric patients. Afternoon breakout sessions will provide a case-based look at pediatric headaches, weight management, and UTIs, and will offer physician participants interested in Maintenance of Certification to obtain American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) MOC points.

1. Discuss Chiari Malformation and the treatment approaches available to ease symptoms or halt damage progression of damage to the CNS
2. Identify pediatric head and neck disorders and incorporate recommendations for diagnoses and treatment
3. Apply key learnings in the application of techniques and procedures to maximize management of adolescent patients with spine conditions
4. Demonstrate an understanding of scientific developments in medical genetics and the implications for pediatric care
5. Summarize evidence and value-based medicine relative to infectious disease, including antibiotic use and vaccines
6. Counsel patients on the importance of proper nutrition in infancy to ensure normal growth and neurologic and cognitive development
7. Enhance your skills in managing pediatric patients through case-based discussions and analyses with faculty and peers
