Meeting Location:

Cedars Sinai Medical Center
Harvey Morse Conference Center
8701 Gracie Allen Drive
Los Angeles, California 90048

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is the birthplace of Consultation Psychiatry. This conference is especially designed to meet the needs of psychiatrists and physicians who are interested in acquiring current knowledge about the application of evidence-based models during the course of providing and requesting psychiatric insight into the best practices in both acute and chronic pain.

This course will provide clinicians with a multi-disciplinary psychiatric consultation service approach for inpatients, moving from reactive to proactive consultations on hospital inpatient medical floors. Ideally, clinicians will work to screen, identify and remove or mitigate behavioral barriers to the effective delivery of health care to optimize outcomes in patients with pain.

Objectives
Listed are the Learning Objectives for the Evidence-Based Psychiatric Consultation Conference:

  1. Apply knowledge and skills in the evaluation and management of special populations in medical and surgical settings such as patients with pain, substance abuse and psychiatric comorbidities.
  2. Apply knowledge and skills to primary care integration of pain and addiction treatment
  3. Apply knowledge and skills in articulating the consultation questions and expectations of a psychiatric consultation focused on addressing pain
  4. Apply learned knowledge in the management of pain by integrating pain management guidelines and best practices in treating patients with acute and chronic pain
