Overview
We are very excited to invite you to attend, in person, the 2022 Cedars-Sinai Weight Matters: Treating Obesity with Dignity and Evidence Based Care Symposium, on October 1, 2022. This event is approved for 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

This symposium is intended for clinicians, of all disciplines, to become proficient in the latest, evidence-based treatments of obesity. Obesity is a risk factor for over 200 medical conditions. No specialty is untouched. Although lifestyle interventions are the foundation of weight management, sustaining weight loss over the long-term is extremely challenging for a multitude of controllable and uncontrollable variables. This educational event will help you to better understand why obesity is a chronic, relapsing disease that merits treatment. We will review how to discuss weight with your patients in an effective, bias-free approach. Also, we will extensively review the latest, cutting-edge surgical and non-surgical treatments of obesity, and how to help your patients gain access to these services at our Cedars-Sinai Comprehensive Weight Loss Center.

We are honored to present numerous distinguished speakers including the world-renowned weight management expert, Dr. Robert Kushner, Professor of Medicine and Medical Education at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Past President of The Obesity Society, and lead investigator in the groundbreaking obesity study "Once-Weekly Semaglutide with Overweight or Obesity."

Objectives
  1. Identify obesity as a chronic, relapsing disease with numerous contributing factors, including uncontrollable ones
  2. Review the basics of obesity pathophysiology
  3. Describe current evidence based treatment options for obesity, including their indications and means for optimization
  4. Discuss the role of weight bias in healthcare and perform honest, open and weight-bias-free conversations with patients
  5. Apply best practices and provide evidence-based information to patients with obesity about the full complement of treatment options
