Surgical and nonsurgical procedures vary widely in the world of aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. Patient needs may range from birth defects to facial rejuvenation, accidents to rhinoplasty, scar revision to body contouring – and all require unique skills and knowledge of current and emerging technologies and techniques.

The 2018 Multi-Specialty Plastic Surgery Symposium and Bernard G. Sarnat, MD Lectureship will offer participants clinical programming that provides surgical and nonsurgical options to help healthcare professionals meet the needs of their patients. Content will cover multiple aspects of facial rejuvenation, rhinoplasty, MOHS nasal reconstruction, blepharoplasty, and a special presentation on outreach efforts in comprehensive cleft care. Attendees will learn the latest advances in revision breast surgery, craniosynostosis, management of migraine headaches and complex venous malformation therapy. Body contouring techniques, including fat grafting, non-surgical and post-bariatric approaches will also be presented. Following each of four sessions, a faculty panel will discuss challenging cases (day 1) and explore the role of reconstructive/cosmetic surgery in private and academic practice and trends in plastic surgery (day 2).

Objectives
  1. Evaluate candidates for revision breast surgery and apply best practices to achieve the safest and best possible outcome for each patient
  2. Explore the groundbreaking technique of selective neurolysis in the treatment of partial facial paralysis
  3. Develop a basic understanding of the clinical manifestations of craniofacial anomalies and the principles of managing craniosynostosis
  4. Evaluate rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction surgical techniques and determine the best approach for each patient to ensure optimal form and function
  5. Discuss current and emerging multimodality therapeutic options for the treatment of venous malformations
  6. Describe the lessons learned from updates in comprehensive cleft care delivered in outreach settings
  7. Improve outcomes and reduce complications for patients requiring aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids and eyebrows
  8. Discuss the basic principles of transgender medicine and plastic surgery and the implications for treating gender diverse individuals
  9. Recognize the indication for the surgical treatment of migraine headaches
