Overview
The 19th Annual Emergency Medicine Symposium: A Practical Update is a cutting-edge course that will provide participants with the latest clinical information to support the delivery of fast and accurate diagnoses and treatment decisions. Expert faculty will share their broad knowledge and clinical expertise, energy, and commitment to emergency medicine. This one-day activity will cover current and emerging trends in the emergency department (ED) and will include content on modern resuscitation, in addition to discuss the most up to date therapeutic and vaccine recommendations as of December 2021. We will discuss best practice for diagnosis and treatment of high risk pulmonary embolism, the evolving role of psychotropics in emergency medicine, how to interpret must know EKG’s, when to suspect and how to treat pulmonary hypertension, hot topics in trauma and importantly how we attain happiness in our practice of medicine and our lives.

Objectives
  1. Identify the best therapeutics for your Sars-COV-2 patient with evidenced-based data
  2. Review the top 5 articles in trauma this year to improve your trauma resuscitation
  3. Recognize the new migraine treatment pathways and new medications being used
  4. Discuss the diagnosis and treatment options for high risk pulmonary embolism and pulmonary hypertension
  5. Identify the appropriate use of ultrasound for retinal detachment /papiladema/lumbar puncture
  6. Recognize when a severe agitated delerium arrives to better help patients
  7. Review the use of psychotropics in depression and psychiatric illness
