This conference will provide participants with the most recent developments in current and emerging approaches that can be integrated into the care for patients who have suffered a traumatic incident, resulting in functional and debilitating impairments. These include neurological, medical, orthopedic and other complex sequalae. Faculty have been invited based on their expertise to cover multiple facets of this theme, covering new technologies in diagnostics, rehabilitation throughout the continuum, to community settings. Attendees will benefit from the integration of a multi-modal, interdisciplinary team approach to support optimal recovery and function, which will lead to increasing the quality of life for rehabilitation patients.


Objectives
  1. Explore emerging and current diagnostic and prognosticating tools and their potential application in practice to support improvements in rehabilitation outcomes for patients after trauma
  2. Evaluate the scientific evidence supporting the beneficial effects of identified technologies on motor, cognitive, functional, and psychological recovery in patients after trauma
  3. Integrate and promote the use of various approaches including rehabilitation technology for patients after a traumatic event
  4. Describe the roles of the healthcare team, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, neuropsychologists and others in the community in the management of these patients
