Specialties - Emergency Medicine, Geriatrics, Orthopaedic Surgery, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Overview
The 2022 Orthopaedic Trauma symposium will present the latest operative and non-operative techniques and strategies used in the care of patients with complex upper- and lower-extremity injuries. Morning sessions will address fractures of the elbow and proximal humerus. Afternoon sessions will focus on trauma injuries to hip and knee. Each session will offer attendees ample time for questions and discussion. A unique feature of this year’s program is a lunch-and-learn performance improvement session with content highlighting models for skill development, “Kelee meditation” and visualization techniques. The program will close with a final session featuring practical case-based discussions and best practices.

Objectives
  1. Share experience and approaches to challenging cases with colleagues and expert faculty to enhance understanding of recommended treatment and management strategies.
  2. Recognize the challenges posed by bone loss, infections, non-unions, and other issues and take steps to mitigate complications and adverse outcomes.
  3. Identify unique and difficult fracture patterns and problems in the orthopaedic trauma patient and utilize the best treatment options and algorithms for these difficult cases.
  4. Apply performance improvement tips to improve interactions that can result in enhanced patient and provider outcomes and experiences.
